I can’t even begin to apologize for the lack of blogging in December. So sorry! cb Yates Photography was busy with Holiday cards and photo orders for Christmas. My last order went out on Dec. 22nd to it’s owner. I really got to know the UPS guy well this past holiday season. He was at my house everyday dropping off packages!

Now . . . on to the photos of the New Year’s Eve wedding. I was eagerly looking forward to this one. I knew it would be so unique and different. Plus, I already knew the family and guests that would be there since I photographed the bride’s sister this summer. This family knows how to have a great time! They all made me feel so welcome 🙂 The wedding and reception took place at 1316 Jones in the Old Market area of Omaha. The building looked amazing. I loved all the exposed brick, high ceilings, and of course the wonderful windows at the front. I love amazing window light for portraits of the bride! Check out her dress. I instantly loved the long, full skirt it when she walked in.
Despite the cold weather I still managed to get the couple outside for about 5 minutes of shooting. The old brick buildings were the perfect backdrop. If only it had been about 10 degrees warmer! Oh well, that’s what you get for January in Nebraska. I’m still very pleased with the outdoor shots. Ashley and Scott, thanks for putting up with the shivers to get these images.
Here’s a minimalist shot I took of them during their first dance. I love how you can still feel the strong love between them while only seeing a slight portion of their embrace.
And this last image is of course my favorite! We had heard there were going to be fireworks going off sometime during the evening. The bridesmaid (a favorite bride from this summer) and I were trying to figure out how we could access the roof so we could get the couple up there for photos. We were disappointed when we were told it wasn’t possible. So during dinner we heard the loud booms outside and rushed to see if we had a good view on the deck. I couldn’t have asked for a better viewing spot! We hurriedly got the bride and groom and ran out into the dark, frigid night one more time. I’m so thankful we did.
Colossal congratulations to you both, Ashley and Scott! Your evening turned out extraordinary. Thanks for helping me kick off 2009 in style!
